چکیده

Copper, the essential element required for human body is well-known its profound antibacterial properties, yet salts and oxides of copper metals in mine tailings are reported to be a big burden modern era. Among other oxides, CuO, particular, known have beneficial effects on humans, while slight nanoengineering viz., surface functionalization nanometer-sized oxide shown make some paradigm shift using inherent redox property. Here, we synthesized CuO nanoparticles functionalized it with citrate ligand an enhanced property better solubility water. For structural analysis nanohybrid, standard analytical tools, such as electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, X-ray diffraction studies were conducted. Moreover, FTIR UV-VIS spectroscopy performed confirm functionalization. The study results, against model bacteria (S. hominis), show that nanohybrids provide favorable outcomes antibiotic-resistant organisms. suitability nanohybrid use photodynamic therapy was also confirmed, under activity increased substantially. antibiotics further supported by computational biology, which reconfirmed outcome our experimental studies. We extracted nanogranules (top-down technique) from two places, each different geographical locations, them ligands order characterize similar functional properties obtained nanoparticles, bottom-up technique. observed offers compared those provides avenue circular economy utilization waste into nanomedicine, best mankind.

Toxic metal removal from aqueous solution by advanced Carbon allotropes: a case study from the Sungun Copper Mine

The sorption efficiencies of graphene oxide (GO) and functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs) were investigated and elucidated to study their potential in treating acid mine drainage (AMD) containing Cu2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Fe3+ and Cd2+ metal ions. Several layered GO nanosheets and f-MWCNTs were formed via the modified Hummers’ method and the acid treatment of the MWCNTs, respec...

Biodiversity of rocky intertidal benthic communities associated with copper mine tailing discharges in northern Chile.

Copper mine tailings have been discharged around the city of Chanaral, in northern Chile, for more than 60 years. This report summarizes a 17-month long monitoring study of species richness and biodiversity at five intertidal sites around the point of the tailing discharge. Total dissolved copper in sites close to the point of discharge varied between 8.72 microg/l and 34.15 microg/l, showing t...
